Plenary conference (choice of either virtual or on-site in Barcelona)

This year’s plenary conference (20-21 October 2021), open to all AE Members, as well as members of the Young Academy of Europe (YAE), will feature a hybrid format, meaning that delegates can either register to attend virtually via Zoom, or they can indicate their intention to reserve one of the (limited) spots for attending the conference on-site at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB).

Please tick the corresponding box on the registration form below; the fee amount due will be updated accordingly (virtual attendance 50€ per delegate; on-site attendance 200€ per delegate).

Class meetings (virtual)

Class meetings, organised by Class Chairs along with their respective Section committees, require advance registration, which must be completed at the same time as registration for the plenary programme. AE Members are encouraged to also register for one or more of these Class meetings (not just their own corresponding Class’ meeting), in addition to the plenary programme.

AE President’s dinner (optional; for on-site delegates that registered specifically for this event), at Hotel Casa Fuster

Following the enormous success achieved by the first-ever President’s dinner in 2019, this event returns in 2021 in an adapted format, in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions.

The dinner is optional and open to delegates participating in the on-site plenary conference in Barcelona. However, it requires a separate registration fee.

The dinner will take place on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Hotel Casa Fuster (Passeig de Gràcia 132, 08008, Barcelona). Built in 1908 and renovated as a hotel in 2004, the emblematic Modernist building was designed by Catalan architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

Please note that participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from the event. Dinner features the “Montseny” menu* previously sent by e-mail and features a glass of cava upon arrival, a three-course meal and beverages including select Catalan wines, mineral water and coffee or herbal infusions.

Credit card transactions are processed using a secure online payment system, in line with the second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) that entered into effect in the European Economic Area on 1 January 2021. In compliance with this directive, all online payments by credit card require an additional layer of security involving strong customer authentication (SCA), by which customers are asked to confirm each online payment with their respective financial institutions, usually by introducing a secret number or code sent by SMS or a smartphone app, or by using a biometric identifier such as a fingerprint or face recognition.

No refunds will be given for registration fees paid that correspond to any of the virtual meetings.

For registration fees paid that correspond to the on-site plenary meetings and/or social activities in Barcelona, if a cancellation has been received in writing (to before or on September 15, 2021, it will be eligible for a 50% refund. Starting on September 16, 2021, no refunds will be given for registration fees paid that correspond to any of the on-site meetings or social activities in Barcelona.
